Music has always been a passion for 24-year-old Suwayne Ffrench. From as early as he can remember, growing up in Golden Spring St. Andrew, his passion for singing manifested early in his life. The young singer got his first exposure to music when he attended Oberlin High School where he became a member of the school’s choir. From there the opportunity to perform with the school at different functions and events further cemented his love for music. In the years following, however, his talents did not go unnoticed and after much encouragement from his mother to utilize his gifts, he reconnected with a long-time friend turned producer, Wai Fuzion.
From that engagement he was able the record his first melodic dancehall song “Love It”. As faith would have it, however, the stars were aligning for young Suwayne. Through another of his talents and interest, photography, he was photographing for a baby’s birthday party where he met his now manager who overheard him singing. After commending his talents, and Suwayne sharing information about his record “Love It”; the two established a partnership and the artiste Drizl was born.
Drizl has had quite an impressive journey in his musical career. His first release, Mood Swings EP, debuted at number 9 on the Billboard Reggae charts and remained on the charts for three weeks. The support and network surrounding Drizl continue to grow as he pushes towards achieving his dreams. The artiste who is signed to Carleonie Entertainment has also been receiving massive recognition and support from other notable names such as dancehall artiste Vershon who have praised the young artiste’s talent and artistry and considers him part of the Queff Nation Movement.
Had it not been for the global pandemic, however, 2020 would have seen this working artiste actively promoting his music and artistry in a series of concerts and tours overseas. For Drizl, though COVID-19 has created a few setbacks in the big plans he had; it also provided him with the opportunity to slow down and focus on creating more music.
